It is easily the best looking, most engaging, best story telling game I've ever played, and I have played a lot of them. It was my first MGS game, but I was caught by its great epic story, which made me really feel for Solid Snake.
It will be a long time before I will play a game like that again.

Set up a scrabble game. You'll need at least 3 players, 4 is better. The object is to use your tiles to spell a word that doesn't exist. You must then provide a definition. If the rest of the players give it the thumbs up, you're set. Then it's the next player's turn. My favorite fake scrabble words?
Ortuole - a small French songbird
Gyronag - a bizarre condition, commonly seen in old race horses

I remember playing it when I was a kid. I had never seen anything like it.
The character could use a ton of items, there was a huge over world and quite a few dungeons, the game play was more fun then anything I had ever played, and by the time I finished it . . . I knew video gaming was never going to be the same.
It's funny that you say "beside crysis , lost planet , and left 4 dead" while they are great games, they don't even make Cheapgamer's top ten.

The best game of this I ever played was against my theoretical physics professor, who was from Japan. It took a whole semester to play, and it ended with me only one stone short.
But if I'm feeling recreational and just want to kick back and have sport with some friends, my favorite is four-player Dutch Chase poker.

The best game of this I ever played was with some chaps from high school, in a game supervised by our social studies teacher, where the pots got so huge that ownership of vehicles ended up changing hands that night.

I actually have two favorite games, one which is played in an actual arcade and one online that I feel are the best. The arcade game is Mrs. Pac-man! Yeah, I can play that game for hours. The online game is bejeweled. I am always trying to beat my high score every time I get time to play it. Two must play games for any game enthusiasts!

Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is a cliche answer, but it's cliche for a reason. It's one of the best games that's ever been made. I certainly enjoyed playing it, and have actually played it through more than once because I enjoyed it so much. Earthbound for SNES and Resident Evil 2 are both also excellent games.

I love Age of Empire and Age of Mythology, a classic strategy game with challenging but not too hard objectives, pretty simple gameplay, and low hardware requirement. I love the scenarios as they are based on history.

Without a doubt: Metal Gear Solid 4. It is easily the best looking, most engaging, best story telling game I've ever played, and I have played a lot of them. It was my first MGS game, but I was caught by its great epic story, which made me really feel for Solid Snake.

The Metal Gear series has to be the best, however, I must give kudos to the makers of Lego Indiana Jones. Great gameplay, funny parody of the movies, and you can actually play co-op with another player (not versus like most one or two players games), which is almost unheard of in the game world. Very few games offer co-op. The only other one I know of is a very little known PS1 car combat game called "Rogue Trip." Dumb story line, but I did play the heck out of that game back before the PS2 came out and it was a lot of fun, but I doubt anyone else has even heard of it.

I know that this is technically a “video game” question, but I am not much of a gamer. My favorite game is chess. Although traditionally it is played on a board, in person, many PC games exist. Fritz, Chessmaster, Winboard, Chessparter – all great alternatives to a real opponent. And when you tire of the computer beating you, there is Internet chess! World Chess Live, FICS, Chess.com, the ICC, Gameknot – just tons of them!
So, my answer is chess. :)

The best game I ever played was Dr. Mario on the Nintendo, yes the original Nintendo! I wish I still had that game. A close second would have to be Eternal Eyes on the original Playstation. I prefer the older games to the new ones. I do like the Ratchet & Clank series of games for the PS 2 though.

Fake Scrabble - Here's how it works. Set up a scrabble game. You'll need at least 3 players, 4 is better. The object is to use your tiles to spell a word that doesn't exist. Everquest was the best the game that I ever played. It was very well done and very expansive. I loved exploring new lands - especially when new content had been released. No game had been that immersive to me prior, and no game has been that immersive to me since.

The game Earthbound for SNES is my favorite game of all time. The story line and landscapes are nothing like I've ever seen before or after that game. I can remember playing it countless hours on my SNES. It's also one of the few games that no matter how many times you play it, you can always find new things. The game changes every time. This game is rated 9.4/10 with 1831 reviews on gamespot.com, I'm including the link to the reviews in my sources.

DUDE! Hands down, "PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES". I became addicted and played for like two days straight. Then I got others addicted who played for days on end as well. Google plants vs. zombies, every game site has it now.I cant explain it other then it involves creative zombies (everything from micheal jackson zombies, to rubber duck zombies,to football zombies)that are desperate to get into your house and eat your brains. Use strategic planting of also creative zombie fighting plants to kill them before they reach the front door. Its fun, and soo hilarious. Its even fun for other people to watch you play. You cant ever go wrong with zombies!!! At bigfishgames.com you can buy the whole game for 6.99, thats the lowest price ive seen so far. Most places will only let you play this for free for an hour, its in demand right now. So buy the whole thing, you will wanna play it for a long time.

Just for the record I always hear that chess players love turn based strategy games. Do you think this is true? Have you tried games like Final Fantasy Tactics? What did you think?
