Video of company making a video game that uses cameras to track the movement of any input device you like.

A while ago techcrunch posted a video of a company making a video game where you held a device like a ping pong paddle up to the camera and then you would be able to play ping pong using the device on the game. They also did this using an eraser as a steering wheel. Anyone know who this was and the video associated with it.

I'm not sure if this is the exact video you are looking for, but it does sound similar to your description.

CamSpace supports at least one racing game that I know of — TrackMania (via a user submitted 'controller' on the main CamSpace site), I'm not sure about a ping pong game though.

This may be something of interest to you. While its not the exact video you are looking for it is similar to the technology that you are explaining. Certain video games can be calibrated to accept specific gestures as inputs such as driving games or shooting games.
