Different games, different genres. It all depends on what people's preferences are. It might also depend on which platform you prefer, seeing as those 3 are some pretty big hitters on their respective consoles.

Cutting straight to my answer of which game wins, I'd choose all of them because they are equal in my eyes. If you are a true gamer, you will not stick to one platform and turn a blind eye to the others like a typical fanboy. Of course, you got to have the wallet to support your gaming needs, but that's part of life for any serious gamer.

Now why would I say they are equal, and not choose one over the other? Well, let me explain what each game is in my eyes:

Metal Gear is obviously "The Game" when it comes to providing you both with a plethora of quality gameplay and stunning production values. Kojima has always strived to bridge the gap between videogames and Hollywood-style movies, and most of the time he succeeds. The story telling can be over the top, and the sometimes long cutscenes and drama may not suit everyone's tastes, but the overall package is just pure brilliance when you couple it together with the trademark Metal Gear Solid gameplay and the spectacular aural and visual tour-de-force always associated with the series.

Now for Metroid, its real strength is the keep-you-going exploration type of gameplay where powerups and stuff allow you to reach places you could not before. This type of gameplay when done perfectly (which is something Metroid games seem to do with ease) just screams pure replay value. Being the original to do this, Metroid has always been really special to me. Every Metroid game I've played, from the original 8bit and 16bit incarnations (Super Metroid has to be one of the most perfect games ever created, sitting atop together with Ocarina of Time) to the Gameboy Advance ones, up to the really good 3d sequels (props to Retro Studios for doing what I though would be an impossible task - perfectly translating Metroid platforming to 3d lol) have had one thing in common - amazing and addicting gameplay! You basically can't go wrong with a Metroid game in my opinion (unless all you care about is "Next Gen" and choose to ignore anything other than the Xbox 360 and PS3).

Finally, on to Halo.,the game so many love, yet so many hate at the same time haha. Let me start by saying that the first time I played Halo: Combat Evolved on the xbox, I was stunned. The graphics were a sight to behold, the single player gameplay pretty much obliterated any other First Person game released on consoles, and the multiplayer and coop gameplay were just pure genious. With every sequel came improvements to graphics, gameplay and multiplayer (mostly focusing on multiplayer). When Halo 3 came out, Bungie had created what I think is pretty much, the best multiplayer console game at the time (well, for first person shooters to be specific). With so many options and community features, no other game could just compete. I'm mostly a single player/campaign gamer, and Halo, despite what others have said, has never failed me in that department. Granted Halo 2 wasn't as hot as the original, Halo 3 improved on it especially with the 4 player cooperative option. The game and story was always exciting to play and uncover for me and it never felt outdated or anything (and yes, I've played lots of other FPS games both on consoles and on the PC already). I find Halo being a really polished game that just needs a decent bump with its engine to silence all the fanboys who say that it looks like crap (far from the truth). Hopefully, Bungie can still do some magic with Halo Reach.

So there you go, now that was longer than I expected lol. In the end, games don't win. Its us the consumers if we choose to have an open mind and enjoy games from all 3 platforms

Its really in the matter of the courts to judge a game. You can't say which game will win and why because everyone has different tastes to their favorite generes. For an example I like Metal Gear of all because the game is stealth action and its not about combat, its about avoiding most of the times, plus love the cutscenes and story in the game. Metroid is an adventure game, not much to say since metroid is one of Nintendos favorite series. As for Halo, its mostly online gaming.
Sot to answer this question. I say Metal Gear. Why because I want to salute to Big Boss.
