im having trouble getting past the flying mission where the bomber trys to shoot down the enemy while returning to base, run out of fuel?

i keep shooting down the enemy but i run low on fuel and the mission ends, i restart but the same every time, ive been two weeks on ths mission, this is the ds version of call to duty world at was, i also cant find walk thrus anywhere. help please....thanks
