I just hit level 55 and I can't go prestige and I have no idea why

Once u reach leavel 55, u still have to earn enough points to prestige. Once u get enough points you will unlock Prestige Mode, Select "Prestige Mode." You will be asked twice if you would like to continue. By accepting, you choose to start all over, losing everything you have unlocked. You will, however, have an icon next to your name showing that you have attained Prestige Mode.

Have you tried turning off and on the console?
that happened to my ps3 and it worked

tried that on my xbox 360, didn't work
oh wait, after you hit lvl 55 you have to raise your xp up still then you can go prestige
