How to beat uncle Pelis at the end of the game

"The final boss is actually pretty easy. First thing to know though, is that you must avoid being cornered -- and being damaged -- by the skulls on the ground. Move Jason out of the ring of skulls, then do what you have to do to bring Pelias down.
Bring Pelias down by doing the following:
When Pelias is using a magic laser to fry Jason, block his entire laser beam. This tires Pelias long enough for Jason to run a few steps and throw his spear. Note that unless Jason runs a few steps, he will not throw his spear. Hit Pelias with a few thrown spears until he changes his attack pattern.
When Pelias is flying around and shooting a bunch of magic missiles at Jason, use the shield to power block (shield bump) the missiles back at Pelias, or you may attack the balls to send them back. After enough magic missiles hit the flying Pelias, he will again change his attack pattern.
When Pelias is on the ground and shooting magic missiles at Jason, you need to move towards Pelias and attack his magic shield relentlessly. Once his shield is broken through, Pelias warps to the end of Alceme's bed and begs to be finished off.
Depending on which reply you choose, Jason will execute Pelias using the weapon favored by the god or goddess -- Ares uses the mace, Hermes the sword, Athena the spear, and Apollo the shield.
And for the curious -- you cannot inherit your previous game. You must start your New Game as a totally new game. Enjoy. "

Pelias Phase 1:
He summons four skulls which will knock you about and hurt you a bit.
Just roll diagonally through them and they will not hit you. He will
then shoot a beam at you. Guard through it until his purple shield
drops and throw a spear at him. Repeat.
Phase 2:
He summon the skulls again. Dodge them, then guard. He will throw a
few purple missiles at you. If you are guarding, they float around you.
When he charges, press A to throw the missiles back at him.
Phase 3:
He gives up on the skulls and stays on the ground, spamming the purple
missiles. Get up somewhat close then guard and repeatedly press A to
shield bash him. Should only take one bash to kill him.
