When you go around a corner hold in the R trigger button on the controller. While doing this press the directional buttons (the left and right ones) back and forth from left to right repeatedly until the sparks from your car turn blue. When this happens release the trigger and you should have an extra turbo boost.

Snaking (boosting back and forth on long, straight paths) is a way to get ahead in races. My friend told me about it, but it's kind of hard to do. Well, at least for me.

How do you do that Turbo boost while going around corners in Mario Kart for the DS? I bought mine used without an instruction manual.

While pressing the direction that you want to turn in, Press R, and then rapidly press left and right on the D-pad, until the sparks are blue. Usually, I just rock my thumb back and forth on the D-pad. Let go of R. Snaking (boosting back and forth on long, straight paths) is a way to get ahead in races. My friend told me about it, but it's kind of hard to do. Well, at least for me.
