What's the Sandstone? You may have the name mixed up with something. I'm a big CT fan from the SNES days and even after checking the faqs I found no mention of a Sandstone item.

Do you mean the Sun Stone? If so:
You need to fight the Son of the Sun in the Sun Temple in 2300 A.D. Go south of the Keeper Done, its on a small island. Be sure to have Ayla in the party to steal and have everyone equipped for protection against Fire.

You'll get the moon Stone after the fight. Board the Epoch and go back to 65,000,000 B.C. and drop it off at the Sun Shrine which is on an island in the northeastern part of the map.

Go back to 2300 A.D. to pick it up and it's gone. Head back to modern times 1000 A.D. and fly over to the mayor's Manor in Porre. The Mayor will deny having it and poke you in the eye. Buy some Spiced jerky at the Snail Shop and go to 600 A.D.

Give the Jerky to the wife and refuse her offer for 10,000G and give it to her for FREE. Go back to 1000 A.D. to get the Sun Stone from the Mayor and drop it off in the Sun Shrine in 1000 A.D. and go back to the future to 2300 A.D. to retrieve the completed Sun Stone.

You need Lucca as the party leader to retrieve the Sun Stone.
