how do i add a potion or use one during battle? cause i can't equip them?

i'm battling..low on health, how can i heal myself?

I haven't tried the DS version yet, but in the SNES one IIRC, there should be an "Items" menu that you can access when choosing battle commands (just like any other typical rpg). You should be able to use your potions from there.
