I've played both games and they are both awesome. If you like tactics then Rainbow 6. If you like semi-realistic war scenerios then Call of Duty. Although sometimes Rainbow 6 can get into situations where it seems like a war is going on also.

Please please take my advice. I have played both of these games and by far the better one is Call of Duty. Not only are there more games in the franchise for you to enjoy the graphics and gameplay are far superior. Not to mention the multiplayer in Call of Duty has many more players (less time finding a match). In my opinion the Rainbow 6 series has a fun campaign but when it comes down to replayability it falls way short of Call of Duty. Start with COD4 if you can, play the campaign and maybe take it online for multiplayer. You will fall in love with this series after the campaign. Keep an eye out for Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out in November!

I prefer Rainbow 6 for shooting from cover but Call of Duty for the overall war experience and fast paced action.
