Does anyone know how to get Tie Fighter Collector's edition to work on Windows Vista? This is proving tricky.

As Star Wars Tie Fighter Collector's Edition, is DOS-based game, it might not work properly with Windows Vista. If you have tweaked your Vista installation and still can't get it working, you might need to try to run the game on DOSBox.

DOSBox is essentially open source x86 emulator that works for Vista amongst other operating systems. It primarily focuses on running DOS games.

The wiki page explains what it does as well as instructions on how to install.
