Do you have a wired controller plugged in (Like a guitar or drum controller for Rock Band)? If you have a wired controller plugged in, you have auto sign in enabled, and you turn on the xbox 360 with the power button on the console instead of the guide button on the controller, it will sign your wired controller in as your gamertag account and player 1 instead of your wireless controller.

Cannot sign in with my gamertag in Call of Duty World at War. Any ideas?
1. I turn on my Xbox 360 and automatically sign in with my gamertag.
2. I launch CoD: WaW, but I will no longer be signed in with my gamertag. So I can't launch my single-player saved game.
4. If I try to launch a single-player game, I get a message about "You are not signed in. Your progess will not be saved." But there is no prompt to sign in.
5. I have to go to the Multiplayer menu and select Xbox Live. Only then will I be prompted to sign in.
6. Sometimes when I sign in this way, I will still be reverted to "Not signed in" when I go back to the single-player menu. I have to try 2-3 times before it sticks and I stay signed in.
Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it? Sometimes if I only have 30 minutes to get in a quick mission, it's very annoying to spend 10 minutes trying to sign in. When I loaded the game for the first time, I was prompted to update my Xbox, which I did. Is this perhaps what caused the problem?

That was totally the problem. I'd been practicing GH in preparation for the release of [[Guitar Hero Metallica]] on the 29th. >.> Thanks mucho!

It's true, I only have a Silver membership. But I'm not trying to play online. I just want to play the single-player game. However, to save progress and get Achievements, you still have to be signed in with your gamertag. My problem is the game signs me out automatically as soon as I launch the game, and I have to do some silly workaround just to sign back in.
