The pictures probably aren't faked because you really could play as Goro in the SNES version. I remember doing it via a cheat code that I read in one video-game magazine or another...can't remember which one now, though, but IGN has the code too:

You could also play as Goyo in the GameBoy version:

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
Back when Mortal Kombat I was released on the SNES everybody had tales of being able to play as Goro.
Goro, the four armed monster, was not a playable character yet doctored pictures (strongly denied by the developers as being legitimate) were circulating around magazines. People attributed their authenticity to glitches in the arcade games or combinations tapped in a certain times, even reproducable with many flawless victories.
Does anybody know where these fake pictures are, there are a few.
