Do video games really cause people to be violent?

Studies on the subject are known to have provided mix results. Scans of kids' brains have shown possible increases in aggression. While observations of kids who played a lot of violent video games show no noticeable increase in violence compared to a controlled group. It has also been suggested that it depends on what kind of game a child plays.
Personally I've played a lot of violent first person shooters and I've never gone out and replicated the violent acts I've seen in those games.
