Lettuce wraps are my favorite.

Just not Asian food but a few years ago the fad in fast food was lettuce wrapped whatevers (burgers, chicken, etc.) for those following the low-starch diets.

Don't forget cooked lettuce ...

Love the lettuce wrap idea; and I usually do forget cooked lettuce, so thanks for reminding me with that article!

I had a Guinea pig as a kid and that thing loved lettuce he got all the outside leaves so we didn't waste much by throwing out all of our lettuce scraps.

Actually, I heard cabbage was good for a breast feeding mother that might have sensitive nipples from baby chewing. I am thinking that a cold lettuce leaf might actually feel good in relieving pain and heat from a sun burn. It is also good as a wrapping/stuffer agent. Anyone care for a lettuce burrito!?

A great dish is San Choy Bow (or San Choi Bow). It's an Asian dish cooked where a mince mixture is served in the lettuce leaves. I've listed a couple of links to different versions that might help.

Generally lettuce is eaten raw, so consider removing any browned, slimy, or wilted leaves. For all lettuce types, you should thoroughly wash and ‘dry’ the leaves to remove any dirt or lingering insects. If you eat lettuce often, it’s wise to invest in a salad spinner. Simply rinse the leaves and place in the spinner to remove the excess water.
In addition to their most common use in salads, you can also braise, steam, sauté and even grill certain lettuce varieties to create a wonderful and different taste treat. Try halving a head of radicchio or romaine lengthwise, and brush on some extra virgin olive oil, and grill until they soften and just begin to brown-absolutely delicious.

Lettuce is very nutritional so you can use it in any food preparation.
Lettuce is a live food with its rich vitamin content, especially the anti scorbutic vitamin C. It is bulky low in food value but high in health value. It is rich in mineral salts with the alkaline elements greatly predominating. So it helps to keep the blood clean. the mind alert and body in good health.
The loose leaf lettuce is considered a better food. It has the advantage of being more exposed to sunlight. thus providing it with a richer supply of vitamins than the head-lettuce in which the leaves are closed. Whatever quality of lettuce is selected for use, it should be ensured that it is fresh. crisp and green -leaved. The greener the leaves. the higher the vitamins.
