Do you have an opinion on the proposed health care/health insurance reform proposal put forward this week by the Republicans?
If so, does the new analysis by the non-partisan CBO change it in any way?
Today, the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) and the JCT (Joint Committee on Taxation) put out their analysis of the Republicans' alternative proposal. It seems clear that it does not do much to solve many problems - it insures FEWER (non-elderly) Americans, and it reduces the federal budget deficit much LESS THAN either the Senate Finance Committee's version or the House of Rep's version. ($68B, $81B, and $104B, over 10 years, respectively). It doesn't even rid us of the pre-existing condition conundrum.
Check out the analyses for yourself: House version: http://cboblog.cbo.gov/?p=403 ; Senate Finance: http://cboblog.cbo.gov/?p=387 ; Republican: http://cbo.gov/ftpdocs/107xx/doc10705/hr3962amendmentBoehner.pdf
