it is stated that:
"In 1842 the British author Charles Dickens called upon Tyler in the White House, writing that "he looked somewhat worn and anxious, and well he might; being at war with everybody - but the expression of his face was mild and pleasant, and his manner was remarkably unaffected, gentlemanly, and agreeable. I thought that in his whole carriage and demeanour, he became his station singularly well....""
i would ask John Tyler what he thought of Charles Dickens. what an interesting person to meet.

There were many constitutional firsts during the term of the tenth President, John Tyler. What question would you have liked to ask him?
If you have never read his wikipeida entry, you should.

I would ask him why he chose the name "Sherwood Forest" for his home (away from the White House) and if it had anything to be with being called a "political outlaw"? http://www.sonofthesouth.net/leefoundation/civil-war/1861/june/john-tyler-house.jpg
