Oh, so many questions! Unlike Pres. Pierce, I have a staggering list of questions for the man who delivered us to the doorstep of the Civil War.

Dear Ghost-President Buchanan,

1. Did you really have an active role in the Dred-Scott case? To what extent?

2. Do you regret it?...not stepping in a taking action for or against the Secession? With full hindsight, for which side would you have acted?

3. At the end of your career, what did you really think of Stephen Douglas? How did you/do you regard him?

4. The day before you died you noted that "History will vindicate my memory". Do you think it has? If not, do you think it still may? Was this comment a signal that you felt no large regrets about your presidential actions?

And yes, I think it highly likely that Buchanan was, indeed, gay. But I wonder if he really knew of it himself. I would ask the Ghost-President Buchanan about such matters, but I am a lady. ;)

Ah, I was waiting for your answer, and I am definitely not disappointed. Yes, the Dred Scott decision. Insanity, even in that age. Buchanan was worst than Pierce, because Pierce had the excuse of being a little off mentally because of what happened to his son and because of his deteriorating marriage. But Buchanan? A bad guy.

Thanks, yes as long as you keep posting these I'll be eager to answer. I love revisiting history like this.

Yes, Buchanan was far worse than Pierce. No real excuse for his behavior, and he showed a lot more indifference. I mean, Pierce may have made terrible decisions, but at least he picked a direction regarding slavery. Buchanan just sat there, even declaring that the issue of slavery was unimportant. Then he turned around and mucked up every other issue.

He is considered one of the worst presidents. He was very unpopular because of his southern sympathies and his position on the Dred-Scott case. He also probably was gay.
