UPDATE: Mahalo is adding a M¢25 tip to all questions that don't offer a tip as an experiment.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$Why is Mahalo not giving us a quarter for all of our previous best answers that were not tipped? Can Mahalo do this, or this is something they are just going to let slide?

M$I was actually away from Mahalo for a few weeks, I was a little disenchanted when the site was partially or totally unavailable for hours at a time. I was engaged with the community and enjoying the experience, and it was very souring to try to access the service and not be able to do so. While I'm not in this entirely for the money, I want to be here in a long-term context. That may mean, at $0.25 a question, that I'll see my balance grow even if I'm only answering questions that engage my attention and interest, instead of also gauging tip vs time as closely. Good thinking!

M$Although I would gladly take the extra earnings - I would not say I agree that adding the tip to every question would really encourage "quality" answers.
In actuality, if people are interested in simply providing a large quantity of answers in hopes of answering at least a few of them well, the $0.25 tip could inspire them to answer even more questions in less time, providing less useful information.
However, without having the results user/usage data before and after this experiment took place, I could not say for sure!
