two outs. very large slow man on first. If the ball is hit up the middle and to the center fielder. Does the batter get credit for a hit??

man going to second was thrown out by the outfielder.

The batter will get credit for a hit if the center fielder does NOT catch the ball and the batter safely reaches first base before the fielder throws to the first baseman. Also, the runner on first must reach second base (or farther) without being thrown out by the fielder for the batter to be credited with a hit. Essentially, no runners nor the hitter can be called out following the hit. If everyone is safe, the batter is credited with a hit.
