Yes you’re right; Twilight is the first book in the series. This book comprises of the introduction to the vampire world based on Stephenie Meyer’s series which has of course differences compared to other vampire novels and beliefs. This book can stand alone without the other books but because of its popularity and demand, the writer continued the saga then three years later (2008) put a conclusion to this very popular and best-selling series.
Twilight saga consists of four books;
1. Twilight (2005)
2. New Moon (2006)
3. Eclipse (2007)
4. Breaking Dawn (2008)
These books have been best-sellers for a few consecutive years and up until now are still being sold worldwide. After much hype on the book, a movie was released by Summit Entertainment during 2008 based on the first book. Twilight main casts consist of Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black (whose careers sky-rocketed after the movie). Although the movie didn’t receive good review from critics and typical movie goers, it managed to earn a lot in theaters so the year later (2009) a movie based on the second book, New Moon, was released, then another year after (2010), the third movie, Eclipse was shown in theaters worldwide.
Next year (2011), the first part for the final movie based on Breaking Dawn will be out in theaters. The last book was too long to fit on just one movie that’s why it has been cut into two parts.
