Until a few weeks ago, I would have said second, for sure. Loved how the tension ratcheted up in every episode. But now I'm not sure because Season 3 is ending really strong. Huge fan of Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado.
The Jimmy Smits storyline is literally freaking my girlfriend out. The tension is too much for her to take. Does anyone think that Dexter's going to chop up Prado? I think Prado will move away somewhere.

For me this is no contest: the second season is the best. The current season took a little too long to really hit its stride, though it is currently very exciting. The first season got me hooked, and I couldn't imagine it getting any better the next season. But season 2 surpassed my expectations far and away; the psychology and philosophy, the constant cliffhangers, the genius character development. We really got into the mind of Dexter!
