That said, I would have to say PBS Sprout. It has a ton of shows, like Sesame Street, that my toddler enjoys and can learn from.

While I was pregnant, I got really into all of the birthing shows just because I understood what those women were going through. The shows on that channel gave me an idea of what to expect and taught me what to look out for without making me over worried.
There are also a lot of great shows like Dr. G Medical Examiner which to me is like a mystery suspense type of show as well as Mystery Diagnosis. Even though some of the stories are gruesome, they're still really fascinating and just so addicting to watch.
Last but not least, I LOVE Just Cook This! with Sam the cooking guy. His quirky personality makes the show so fun to watch and also makes cooking look like a blast (when sometimes it can be just exhausting cooking for my family of 5) and really made me want to experiment in the kitchen. He gives a lot of healthy alternatives to those really fatty dishes that my family eats all the time.

Although CNN is my favorite, I do flip back and forth between msnbc and fox news as well. They all have their own biases, but I find that if I view them all I can make my own decision about what is going on.
Although I prefer serious channels, sometimes the sad news in the world gets to me and I have to change it to some mindless fun reality shows on VH1 or MTV. It's a guilty pleasure :)

TLC is part of the Discovery network, which I also enjoy. The website is also great and full of great advice and info.

But it's not on TV yet.
On TV, Versus carries the Tour de France, which is the only sports event that I watch regularly. It's coming up soon, so you might want to try that.

TVtropolis is quite good. It plays shows like family guy, seinfeld, amerian dad, friends, simpsons, futurama, malcolm in the middle. .. Reruns of popular shows like that that you can really watch any time. My favorite part is the fact they play decent shows 24/7 so when I need something to watch at 5pm other than static, colored bars with beeping, weather, news, or infomercials for girls gone wild, the channel always has SOMETHING decent.
Global is likely my next best bet. Similar shows like simpsons and family guy and Canada's Next Top Model, but they play the newest ones. They're also a news channel and play documentaries, which I love. 16:9 is one of my favorite shows, basically about issues in Canada. Not so current and sad like regular news, but more human interest stories.
TLC I used to love, but we don't get the channel anymore. I don't even remember what's on it. Lots of babies and weddings, right?
Family Channel/Disney was great, but we don't get it any more either. Ok, I'm 20, but I'll admit that some of my favorite shows are Hannah Montanah, That's so Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, Suite Life etc. They play them on a couple other channels but only Saturday mornings. Me and my roommate actually make a point of getting up at 7am on Saturday to watch Hannah Montana.
Other than that I just flip, I tend to go for "comedy" and the kind of entertainment I don't have to think about (like the Simpsons), but I do enjoy the occassional reality show (Kendra, Denise Richards, CNTM) and documentaries... And maybe Springer here and there. And LOST but I'm watching it on DVD so I can watch them all back to back. I think my life would be complete with every episode of Lost, Futurama, American Dad and Two and A Half Men just circling constantly on the TV.
:) !

Dexter is an amazing show. If you haven't seen it yet you have to pick up the seasons and catch up (won't take long).
Here's a list of the great shows
1.Dexter
2. Californication
3. Weeds
4. Penn & Teller:BS!
5. Secret Diary of a Call Girl
6. The Tudors
7. United States of Tara
8. This American Life
Yes, the shows are for adults. No they're not porongraphy shows. They are just for a mature taste in television. Their seasons are mostly 6-12 episodes each a half hour to an hour long. The shorter seasons allow for more tighter story lines and better quality of development. Plus they do have Showtime on demand that allows you to catch up.

This inspires me, to one day achieve my goal of becoming a rockstar, that will probably never happen, but it helps to push me.
And hopefully, if I don't achieve that, I don't end up like this for a living

What is your favorite TV channel?
You can name more than one, but what is your favorite TV cable/satellite channel? This means anything other than CBS, NBC, ABC, or Fox.
Please explain why and give your favorite shows on it.
Thanks! It's summertime and I just got Satellite TV, so I want to see what channels are worth watching.

I watch programs from across the major channels. For me, it's not about the channel, but the particular shows. That said, I would have to say PBS Sprout. It has a ton of shows, like Sesame Street, that my toddler enjoys and can learn from.

VH1. Right now they have 3 hilarious shows. One is New York Goes to Work it is hilarious. I dont even get into that sort of reality TV but this show is hilarious. Then Daisy of Love its interesting to follow and the men have rage issues, and of course you can expect that cause they are all competing for the same girl. Last Charm School with Rikki Lake, its so fun to watch the girls progress from hos and hookers to classy ladies. This is why VH1 is my favorite show right now. Oh and Btw I love Satelite TV, its so much better than cable :]

My favorite channel is TLC (The Learning Channel) because it contains such shows as: Jon and Kate Plus 8, What Not to Wear, Little People Big World, and many other shows that I enjoy. I really like shows that give a glimpse into people's lives because I find them fascinating. TLC is part of the Discovery network, which I also enjoy. The website is also great and full of great advice and info.

I think right now that Showtime has much better original programming than HBO. HBO has kind of lost its way since "The Sopranos" left the air. I think that they tried too hard to find that next big hit.

I'm hopelessly addicted to Food Network. I love watching shows that inspire me to try new things. When all else fails, one of the only other channels that I'll keep on constantly is Comedy Central but only in the evenings when I can watch things like The Daily Show or the Colbert Report.
