1. The Brady Bunch
2. The possibilities for this are endless. The parents could be interracial so all of the kids would be mixed, but they'd have to carry the same atmosphere that the Brady Bunch had (minus some of the dorky camaraderie.)
3. Carol Brady could be played by Gabrielle Union and Mike Brady could be portrayed by Michael Trucco. All the kids would have to be newer actors and actresses. The role of Alice could be played by Lauren Graham.

US government paroles international thief (son of a master thief - played in the original by Fred Astaire). Wikipedia claims that Will Smith was associated with a remake, but I think the premise would be a great one for a modern updating. The original was set in the context of the Cold War - but used a lot of fake countries as settings. A remake, I think, should be filmed on location whenever possible - and should have some modern twists.
(Hustle and the US Leverage, have some common elements from It Takes a Thief, but it was the original)

Fortunately, because technology has advanced so much since the original series, new gadgets of varying practicality could be used, in addition to the old ones. In a world of cell phones, the trusty shoe-phone could still be used in a pinch!
I'm not sure Steve Carell is the best actor for the job, despite playing Maxwell Smart in the recent movie. If he could ever be pulled away from his show, Stephen Colbert might make a fantastic Max.

2) Add the long story line elements and mystery of LOST. This might give it some of the feel and interest of the X-Files at it's peak.
3) Zachary Quinto is Barnabas Collins.

MacGyver ... plenty of new plot lines would be possible with all of the contemporary conflicts going on. The Sylar guy from Heroes might be a good fit.
The recent movie might have revived a niche for Speed Racer. Plots involving futuristic muscle cars and corporate scandal might be workable for a new live-action show.

2.) Update: The OLD #6 (the hero in the 60's version) -- Patrick McGoohan -- is the NEW #2 (primary villain). How he has become corrupted is a central mystery of the new series.
Furthermore, it is no longer set in a Cold War universe. The new paranoia revolves around new world order conspiracy theories and terrorism.
The main setting is still The Village, ideally filmed on the same Welsh island as the original.
3. The new star -- the new #6 -- is ideally Daniel Craig.

What 60's, 70's or 80's classic television show should get the reboot treatment -a la Battlestar Galactica

2. How it should get updated (not just the same show)

• I picked this one because I thought that it had to most possibility of any of the suggestions of actually getting made. The interracial aspects adds an extra layer of drama and the kids could all be played by fresh faced upcoming actors/actresses in the HSM mold.

I think Get Smart should get the reboot treatment. These days, there is an overabundance of prime-time shows based on either doctors or police (ER, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice for doctors, CSI, CSI, CSI, etc for police). I think a healthy dose of spy comedy is just what we need. Fortunately, because technology has advanced so much since the original series, new gadgets of varying practicality could be used, in addition to the old ones. In a world of cell phones, the trusty shoe-phone could still be used in a pinch!

For a show to bring back for a reboot, MASH would keep with the theme started with Battlestar Galactica. The update would involve moving the show out of the Korean War to any more recent conflict whether in the Balkans or the Middle East. For stars, I would have to include James Callis as Radar O'Reilly as the original Radar was quite similar to Baltar. Edward James Olmos could command the 4077. For your old pros from Dover, I would bring in Michael Weatherly as well as Lons Harris with Leah Cairns making one of the old male roles female. The head nurse would be male and would be played by Tahmoh Penikett.

Now you are thinking! How about Spec Ops a la Jason Bourne for work in either Central America or Somalia?

She could be a spec ops, we had Demi Moore break that barrier already :). If not, maybe the Leader's daughter (or even better, the Decker person's rebellious child).
Someone pretty fit to play her, Megan Fox would be too young. Jessica Biel maybe. Depends on her backstory.
Would love to see a full blown two-night mini series of the stuff they witnessed to get them on the wrong side of either the Defense Dept. or NSA

1) I think Dark Shadows would make for an interesting and potentially profitable reboot. It has vampires and other supernatural elements, which are both eternally and currently popular. (I know someone else has thought of this, but it has yet to get picked up anywhere.) 2) Add the long story line elements and mystery of LOST. This might give it some of the feel and interest of the X-Files at it's peak.
3) Zachary Quinto is Barnabas Collins.

Star Trek could use a new spin-off. Obviously the possibilities are endless with such a deep franchise.

I like this idea. It almost has a "Hitchhiker's Guide" feel to it in my imagination.

Not so sure about your casting though...

I would like to see All in the Family be redone to push our modern boundaries. It seems like there are so many social issues that need to be vented out and sometimes you can only do that through the art of television, Archie could be played by a modern day Bill O'Reilly style conservative. The kids can be played by good looking Barack Obama era 20-somethings and the mom will be played by the mom from That '70s Show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLjNJI54GMM

This would be a perfect climate for something like that, unfortunately these days the Networks are scared to take any chances so I'm not sure it would have the bite it should. Good idea though...

Soap 2.0 would work for me, ideally taking Sunset Beach into the Soap territory. Use a few of the original actors, but mainly populate it with beautiful young idiots. In a perfect world, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert would play the father figure for the Flotskys and the Tates respectively.
