It's the episode in which the goofy Tom Ewell is masterfully directed into a calm, amazing performance! The Most Nasty Hitchcockian Episode is "Our Cook is a Treasure" which was also filmed in 1955 with great jobs by Everett Sloan and Janet Ward."
"Our Cook is a Treasure" synopsis: Ralph Montgomery is a real estate agent. He pampers his wife by hiring a cook named Mrs. Sutton. He has second thoughts about Sutton, however, when he discovers that police are looking for a woman has killed three people posing as a cook. He goes home and immediately fires Sutton. As she leaves, she tells him his wife has been cheating on him. Ralph is in for another shock when he discovers that the real murderer has been arrested. He then realizes that it must have been his wife who was trying to kill him.

• Watched "Case of Mr. Pelham" last night and it was really great. Probably the best episode I've seen. Well played.

Great answer but watch the spoilers! Makes the episodes less fun if I already know the way it ends.

I'd say The Man From The South is actually the best episode. It's based on a short story by Roald Dahl, stars Peter Lorre and Steve McQueen, and has been remade twice for revivals of the Hitchcock shows. Quentin Tarantino is a big fan of this episode. I won't give away much of the plot, as the surprise ending is the key to this episode's brilliance, but you can click through to my source link if you'd like spoilers.

As much as I want to give an answer to the "best" episode I don't think that is possible... everyone has a different opinion of this I think. The nice thing about your situation is the fact that streaming on Netflix means you can watch ALL of the episodes at no extra cost. So this is what I would suggest :) they really are all worth the time to watch!
