Hold up. I believe I have a better answer. There are several sites that offer thoughts and rumors on the end of "Smallville". Most suggest that Tom Welling will not return for another season once his contract is up at the end of the year. Cast standouts Michael Rosenbauma and Kristin Kruek have already left. Also the creators of the show, Al Gough and Miles Millar, have a deal with Disney to direct the movie Salisbury and are also rumored to be writing a spinoff (about a character named Martian Manhunter--look for him on the January 22 episode). While this might spell the end of "Smallville", it gives hope for a new series and fresh characters.

I'm guessing yes. It is getting a little tired. Clark Kent now works at the Planet with Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. All he needs are glasses and a spandex supersuit, and it's Superman, not Smallville. I say it's done.
