Is Star Trek cool or dorky?

Yeah I think it's cool now. Growing up, I never got into the tv series, but after seeing the movie this year, it definitely peaked my interest to go back and check out the old series.

Star Trek is almost like a living entity. Living, breathing, and ever changing.

With each new generation that learns about warp speed and Spock's cool massage moves, comes a new fan base.

The franchise alone is changing with each new TV series that has sprouted since the first and original.
I'm sure the new movie that recently premiered will generate a whole new back story and possible sequels to follow in its footsteps.

To some, it will always be viewed as a fan club for nerds and dorks, but for the true Trekkie... it is not only a way of looking at life, but the hopes and dreams that we wish will prevail in the future.

POTUS himself admits to being a Trekkie: "I used to love Star Trek," he told Newsweek. "You know, Star Trek was ahead of its time. There was a whole—the special effects weren't real good, but the storylines were always evocative, you know, there was a little commentary and a little pop philosophy for a 10-year-old to absorb."

What I have always admired about Trekkies is their philosophy of (generally) living together in harmony in the future.
The story lines are always filled with fables and morals.

If you look very closely, I think you have a cameo in that little film. I consider you a true trekkie!

I love Star Trek, but I'm afraid I've never been to a convention, learned a word of Klingon, or gotten any merchandise.

Star Trek has always been cool! The thing is, for a long time, it's been both cool and dorky.

I think that after the recent movie, it may just be cool at last.

Star Trek was always cool. Some fans not so much, but the show itself was always awesome. The new film's pretty mainstream as well.

When did star trek stop being cool? Sense its conception the show has played a unique and influential role in our culture. We have been able to view human issues in an alien context which I believe to be somewhat therapeutic are very cool.
