With each new generation that learns about warp speed and Spock's cool massage moves, comes a new fan base.
The franchise alone is changing with each new TV series that has sprouted since the first and original.
I'm sure the new movie that recently premiered will generate a whole new back story and possible sequels to follow in its footsteps.
To some, it will always be viewed as a fan club for nerds and dorks, but for the true Trekkie... it is not only a way of looking at life, but the hopes and dreams that we wish will prevail in the future.

Star Trek is almost like a living entity. Living, breathing, and ever changing. With each new generation that learns about warp speed and Spock's cool massage moves, comes a new fan base.

What I have always admired about Trekkies is their philosophy of (generally) living together in harmony in the future.
The story lines are always filled with fables and morals.

If you look very closely, I think you have a cameo in that little film. I consider you a true trekkie!

I love Star Trek, but I'm afraid I've never been to a convention, learned a word of Klingon, or gotten any merchandise.

POTUS himself admits to being a Trekkie: "I used to love Star Trek," he told Newsweek. "You know, Star Trek was ahead of its time. There was a whole—the special effects weren't real good, but the storylines were always evocative, you know, there was a little commentary and a little pop philosophy for a 10-year-old to absorb."
