Edith Bunker from All In The Family! she was tolerant, gentle, attentive, and when she needed to be, she showed some grit. A wonderful character, indeed.

But for a realistic mom, Olivia Walton was the best.

Although Rosanne was the funniest, most real mom. She talked about things most of us do, but wouldn't admit in public at the time:

This one is kind of random, but probably one of the funniest mom's on TV is Stuart's mom from MadTV. While MadTV as a whole wasn't so great, the Stuart sketches were always incredibly funny, and the mom's Northern accent and bizarre relationship with her son always left me laughing.

My favorite television mom would have to be Marge Simpson from “The Simpsons”. Although “The Simpsons” is an animated television series, I think Marge has a lot in common with many of us on our worst (and best) days. She consistently deals with everyday challenges posed by her chaotic children Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. She has a husband who often acts childish himself and tries her every nerve. She must even mediate between pets who wreak havoc every chance they get. All in all her household can get pretty out of hand and Marge feels like she’s losing it. Sounds familiar? But miraculously, Marge is the one who keeps it all together. She possesses tremendous patience for Bart, has great appreciation of Lisa’s many talents, and displays loving affection for baby Maggie, who is still trying to figure out how the world works. Through it all, Marge works hard at seeing the positive in every occurrence, maintains her sense of humor, and never stops loving her family no matter what. Truly a woman of many faces and abilities, Marge is my choice for funniest television mom.

I would have to vote for Phylicia Rashad of the Cosby Show. I think she was eloquent, elegant, intelligent and funny. She managed five growing kids with spunk and kept her man happy. She kept a family of seven plus through all stages imaginable without a hair out of place. Mostly she made her girls work hard and become independent and accomplished in their own right.

My favorite TV mother of all time is Peg Bundy, played by Katey Sagal, on Married with Children. She's sassy, sexy, silly, and even though she appears a little ditsy (not anything compared to daughter Kelly), she has her house under control... for the most part!

Hands down it would have to be June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. It takes an incredible mother to love little boys as they get into mischief and trouble. Tracking mud into their clean floor and causing all sorts of trouble. "Behind every great man or woman is a good mother."

Lois Wilkerson from Malcolm in the Middle:

OK, she's been raising 5 boys: a rebel, a savant, a dimwit, a quasi-savant, and a baby. Her husband seems scared as hell of the whole situation, and yet she, for the most part keeps her cool and actually makes the house run (realtively smoothly). Her methods aren't the most orthodox, but I defy you to find any TV mom who could handle what Lois handles.

This is a very hard question! My first instinct was Peggy Bundy, mostly just because I loved the show.

However, I think I will choose Kitty Forman, because I see a lot of myself in her. Kitty's husband is a cranky old man who hates people, as is mine. And Kitty is just a happy-go-lucky housewife who tries to keep everyone happy by laughing things off, as do I. I also enjoy a nice glass of schnapps every now and again.

You may be surprised to hear this one...are you sitting down?

Roseann Barr! And do you know why? she didn't take any crap from her kids(or anyone else for that matter) and...best of all-when her kids had their heads up their behinds, she always knew how to get them back ! She wasn't mean, she just embarrased the heck out of them or something. So there you have it!

It has to be Edith Bunker from "All in the Family"!

"There are classic shows, and there are groundbreaking shows. All in the Family enjoys the distinction of being both."

Lois from Malcolm in the Middle

This woman is flawed, but beautiful, tough, and realistic. She has...
no time,
no patience,
no money,
no breaks from life,
but she still figures out how to manage a family of 5 boys and a boy-like husband. And she kicks butt doing it!

Never tell her she can't do something!

And she does it all while being madly in love with her husband and making sure her boys grow up to be good people!

She's so REAL.

Lois Griffin is way better than Marge Simpson. If The Simpson's are known for the crazy antics of the male leads (Homer and Bart), then the Family Guy is known for the even-zanier antics of Lois's husband Peter and their three kids Meg, Chris, and the ever diabolical Stewie. Without their mother, these the family would probably never get out of their constantly (albeit hilarious) awkward situations.

Lois Griffin has one of the most difficult TV jobs as the wife of Peter, someone who traded a boat for a mystery box and mother of Meg, Chris and Stewie, baby genius planning to take over the world. To top it off, she has a talking dog who is probably the only sane one of the bunch. I doubt any mother would want to be Lois, but she sure is fun to watch

Favorite Quotes:
Lois: "I'm gonna go get some oranges Stewie. Here, hold the rest of these bags for mommy."
Stewie: "Oh, what brilliant parenting Lois. Leave a tiny infant with a plastic bag. You know I might asphyxiate myself just to teach you a lesson. Here I go. Just like that boy from INXS." (Stewie tries to put bag over top of his head.)
Stewie: "I'm going to do it!"(Tries to put bag over left side of his head then climbs into it and tries pulling it over his head.)
Stewie: "BLAST! Good Lord Lois, either I was a c-section, or you're Wonder Woman!"

Lois: I care about the size of your penis as much as you care about the size of my breasts.
Peter: Oh my God! (runs off crying)

Lois: I've seen that crappy Julia Roberts movie forty-seven times. Have you seen the lips on that woman? Like a baboon's ass on her face.
