Does the 'time loop theory' of LOST explain the entire show?
Read this (warning: it may very well explain every aspect of the show and ruin the next two seasons for you):
http://www.timelooptheory.com/the_timeline.html
One of the latest additions to the 'time loop theory': Charlie, the son of Desmond and Penny, grows up to become Charles Widmore ... who becomes Penny's father (thus creating a loop -- they are both each other's parent!) Desmond and Penny go back in time to the 1930's at some point (their skeletons are the 'adam and eve' discovered in season one); Charles Widmore grows up on the island (whcih is why he knows it so well in the latest episode).

Intrigued? Is this theory correct? Or not? Discuss :)

I've read the entire timeline ( had to print it, because it can take up to 1 hour to fully understand ) and I find it fantastic, unfortunately, too confusing for them to explain.
Back to your question, it does not explain many aspects of the show, like how can Penny and Desmond can go back to 1900 if the "time machine" was made in the 1960s.

That is true ... it does not explain how they can go back to the 30's. But ... it IS LOST -- they can weasel something together to account for that. Maybe that a-bomb goes off in the future, interacts with the island, sends them back ...
That's the most unbelievable thing I've ever read. (And I'm a Science Fiction fan, too.) Now we have another reason why the show is called Lost. But I do congratulate the author for putting in a lot of effort into writing and illustrating this theory.
I did want to point out one picture in the article. Doesn't this look like the "flux capacitor" from Back To The Future? You know - the thing that makes time travel possible.
