If you are with young kids I would definitely recommend Disney. I still remember my first trip when I was 5. I still enjoy going to look at the buildings, the shows, and gardens. The rides are fine but they are not the primary reason why I go.

If your kids that are older or you want to ride coasters, then go to Universal. They have a Dr Seuss park dedicate to young children, but overall I think it favors an older crowd. Some of the rides that I enjoy are the Mummy, Spiderman, Hulk, and the Dueling Dragons coaster.
