What's the best way to get from Santa Monica to USC during Friday rush hour traffic?
First thought would be Olympic Blvd. all the way, but that gets jammed up a lot. Now I'm thinking get south of the 10 and take Ocean Park, National and Jefferson all the way. Thoughts?

It depends on where in Santa Monica you are coming from, but the best route from Santa Monica to USC, by far, is via Venice Blvd. Once Venice hits National, take a right. National turns into Jefferson, which will hit the northern side of campus. From Main, I would take Abbot Kinney to Venice Blvd.

Personal knowledge. I have taken this route many times to campus from Santa Monica.

Been there done that, I'm in the opposite situation tonight downtown -> Santa Monica. Give 6th street a try that seems to be the best route.
Good luck, keep an eye out for a black VW GTI :P

I think personal experience wins here. But I can give you a tip I use to avoid rush hour traffic: leave work 10 minutes early and get in 10 minutes early. Most people get out of work at exact times (18h, 19h, etc...), so by getting out early you can avoid some traffic jams. Works great when I commute.
Honestly I dont know where those places are, ha ha, but here is some help,
http://www.mapquest.com/ type in the places, and then put avoid highways, basically gives u mostly back roads which should help. I hope this helps, I honestly tried to figure out where you were talking about.
