The three biggest cities in New Zealand, as denoted by population size, are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. As for the crime rates, New Zealand is exceptionally safe when compared to other countries. In a rank of total murders per country for one year the United States was ranked #4 with 16,204 murders, whereas New Zealand was #67 with only 51 murder! The difference is outstanding. Rankings for other crimes include #54 for robbery and #34 for rape (U.S. is #1). Overall New Zealand is a very safe destination. Standard travel precautions should be taken, such as not traveling alone and safeguarding your money.
