What is the best hotel/resort in Big Sur, CA at a reasonable price?

Looking for something under $200 a night that is nice, clean, rustic and preferably has an oceanview.

It depends on what you mean by 'reasonable'? Try the tripadvisor website... it is where I find all of my hotels and it has never once steered me wrong.

Try Deetjen's Big Sur Inn, Lucia Lodge or Glen Oaks Big Sur with nightly prices under 200.00, see many more here:

There are not many hotels in Big Sur, so the ones that are there are very expensive. You could try Monterey or Carmel which are within 25 miles and have lovely, oceanside hotels and motels. Check out the Hyatt Regency Monterey for $151/nt. weekend rate, or my favorite, the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey for $139/nt. It got 4.3 stars from recent guests. The Carmel Lodge is also very nice at $127/nt.
