A folding scooter may be the way to go head to your desired meet up and store it in a backpack when you are done
http://www.foldingscooter.info/
Or if you dont mind the bulk you could go with other types of kick scooter

Less practical, but possibly fun

He has a bicycle, a bus pass and has in the past had a scooter and a skateboard. He works for a company that carpools to job sites and he only needs to get to a central location. Often, he rides to the bus stop, places his bike on the provided mounting brackets, then rides from the closest stop to his destination. He actually found his bicycle in a dumpster, made the repairs and locks it up. To prevent traffic violations, he has front and rear lights.
Many larger colleges and some smaller schools offer shuttle services to common destinations such as grocery stores and shopping centers.

If you only need to go a mile or so, the chance to get exercise (assuming that you don't have to take the freeway) will be good for your health. If it is a regular thing in your life, plan around it so that you have time to do it.
Walking is one of the best things you can do for your health. The benefits are multiple. The link provided below gives you all of that info.
If it is further, take a bike or a scooter, again, a freeway would be a problem.
Take a bus if nothing else works.

What is the best form of transportation for short trips.
Okay so I just started college this fall and I've run into a problem. The issue of transportation over short distances.
I brought a bike but found that it isn't worth unlocking and re-locking for short distances. I know its not that big of a deal, but I'm sure there are better alternatives.
I've seen a lot of long-boards, skateboards, scooters etc. All with their potential cons. For example, I don't want to deal with changing my shoes after rollerblading.
So I guess my question is:
What are some forms of transportation I could use that aren't your typical way of getting around? Just give me your opinion on what is the best way to get around.
Thanks

• Thanks, I had too many:
"Ride a bike!"
"Take the bus!" type of answers and this one wasn't.
Thanks for answering what I asked.

I think the best way is to ask someone a lift or a you can go for a bicycle which not only will solve problem but also helps you to be fit and healthy as cycling is a great way to reduce your weight. U can go with a scooter if u want on your short trips to your college or anywher.
Good Luck!

My son hasn't had a driver's license and has lived in the Ohio State campus area for many years. He has a bicycle, a bus pass and has in the past had a scooter and a skateboard.
