They can usually tell you if a tour group is appropriate for someone your age and activity level. In general, the type of people going on certain trips will depend on the activity level involved. For example, you won't have too many old grandmothers going on a trek through the Peruvian jungle, but if you join a tour group travelling through the lavender growing areas of Canada, then you are probably going to find a lot of older people or couples.
