Yes, I think the Taj Mahal is definitely worth a visit, if you are in the area of Agra already. Agra has some nice other tourist attractions, like the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb, and many more, so the area will keep you occupied for a number of days.
The Taj itself of course is the biggest attraction of the area, and perhaps of the entire country!
