The NY Times' travel guides for each of these cities give a great taste of what you can find.

Lithuania: http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/guides/europe/lithuania/overview.html

Here are the three flags of the Countries. I definitely feel this area of the world is worth a visit.

Those countries also have long histories. It's just that we are less aware of them. They have some beautiful architecture, scenery, and cultural attractions.

One of the bonuses will be that you can visit in the summer and it's actually comfortable, unlike Italy and especially Spain!

It's worthwhile to bone up on the history and culture before you go. When you know more about the country, it becomes much more interesting to visit.

G'day Girmant,

Thank you for your question.

It would be interesting to visit the Baltic States of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania as they would have a considerably different history and culture to Western Europe. Summer would be the best place to visit. While you're there, you might also want to visit St Petersburg in Russia which is relatively close.

Lonely Planet has information on traveling in all three countries:

Regards

It is definitely worth it doing to those countries for one they have a very long history and that history is being preserved to this day. Also what you might like is that prices for anything is still very low. The people are very open and friendly. If you go in the winter i would suggest some very warm clothes. It can be there very cold. The food is very good depends of course on what restaurant you go to. The Cities are up to Western Standards so to speak but If you go to the Country side be prepared for a shock.

I was in Estonia and Latvia over the summer. For one, how many places can you have a drink in a country's oldest bar, established 1994?

Estonia's government is the most technologically advanced of any country, because they had the opportunity to build it after the Internet was in wide use. The people are young, trendy, and friendly, and most speak English. The exchange rate with the U.S. dollar is also more favorable than most European countries, and you can stay in modern hotels amidst rich historical buildings for $90USD.

We watched the Eurocup finals at Molly Malone's in Estonia -- that was a very cool coming-together of people from around the world.

@girmant The current Estonia has only been a country since August 1991. Before that it was part of the USSR.

I believe Estonia was a county long before Soviets occupied it after World War 2. It regained it's independence along with other Baltic States in 1991.

@girmant Okay... but the bar sign says, "Estonia's Oldest Bar, Established 1994" which is what I was referencing.

I can't speak for those countries in particular, but my company recently sent me to Belgium which was a country I had never planned on visiting. I was easily able to fill my time with places to see and experiences I won't forget. I suspect this will be true of any country provided you do a bit of leg work exploring what those countries have to offer in areas that you have an interest in.
