Union Square is always nice, and then you can walk to the Moscone Center from there. Most hotels in that area are nice, you can go onto Priceline and get a good deal, make sure it is Union Square or Embarcadero though, not near Van Ness/Civic Center Station. Stay near the Powell or Embarcadero Stations. The Embarcadero is amazing, right on the water with great views.

When you use priceline.com make sure to put in your own price, start around $60, if it doesn't take, you will need to increase, but not by a bunch, and if that still doesn't work you will need to change the area. Start in either Union Square or Embarcadero, which ever, and then switch if it doesn't take.
