My wife and I went to Hawaii shortly before Christmas this year... it was a great trip and inexpensive with the downturn in tourism.
This year, I hope to travel a little more for work. There are a few interesting conferences throughout North America that I want to participate in and brining my wife along would be a great way to stretch the tax advantage.
In the summer, we're planning to take our kids to Florida to see Disney for the first time. We're hoping to score a good deal on a large condo to share with some close friends for a week. I'm hoping that will be inexpensive as well.
Other than that, no. I'll be sticking close to home and if I have any extra money, it will be used to invest so that hopefully one day, every day will be a vacation :)

I have one acquaintance there from years ago, but I've lost touch, so we're going as pure "tourists".
(We'll also be trying to make Monterrey, Mexico in the summer for my sister's wedding).

I expect to have enough income tax return money to pay for the transportation, accommodations and entertainment. I just need to save up for my "daily allowance." Since I've been to Las Vegas several times, I know how much I typically spend and shouldn't have any difficulty putting aside money for the vacation.

If you want a good source of information about things to do in Puerto Rico, take a look at http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com
I can highly recommend the Luquillo area.

Do you plan to travel this year despite the economy? If so, where?
So many people are cutting back on what they do this year because of the economy? Are you planning to travel? If so, where? To see friends and family or more on an adventure? Are you giving up something else to travel?

• Thanks so much. With clients in the travel industry, I've been trying to keep a pulse on people's considerations for traveling this year. Your answer encompassed it all - work travel, family travel, budget measures, considerations. It was really helpful. Have fun at Disney!

I'm hoping to get to Iceland with the fiancee; their economy could probably use maximum tourist dollars, as they were hit extremely hard by the greed-induced "crisis" we're having. :-( I have one acquaintance there from years ago, but I've lost touch, so we're going as pure "tourists".

Despite the economy, I've been to Vegas three times, San Francisco twice, Orange County, Jamaica, Austin and I'm on my way to Holland & Paris next week. This week, I found myself in Denver. Check out my nightclub review here http://www.firstclassfashionista.com/archives/9188

We are planning to go to Las Vegas this summer with friends. They have adult children who have recently turned 21 and want to take them gambling responsibly. We plan to see some shows and visit some premium restaurants in addition to spending time and money in the casino. We establish a daily budget for ourselves which covers meals and gambling, but pay for ticketed entertainment out of a different line item. If we are lucky enough to have an extraordinary win at the casino, we usually turn around and do something special with the winnings in Las Vegas. I expect to have enough income tax return money to pay for the transportation, accommodations and entertainment. I just need to save up for my "daily allowance." Since I've been to Las Vegas several times, I know how much I typically spend and shouldn't have any difficulty putting aside money for the vacation.

Puerto Rico is our destination this year. We have been in the past and have never been dissatisfied. You can get away to a place that has a different culture from many other places in the United States while at the same time find comfort in knowing that McDonald's is just up the road if you are feeling overwhelmed. If you want a good source of information about things to do in Puerto Rico, take a look at http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com

Actually it depends on of course how much money you have, but precisely because of the economy it is worth traveling now because the flights are cheaper as well, and a lot cheaper. I just found a ticket from Copenhagen to NYC for like 452 dollars, which is great considering that it costs the double normally... I would like to go adventure traveling, but I guess I go and see my parents. They both live in 2 different countries, and I live in a third one. I think it depends a lot on how much resources you got. I can“t really give up anything else to travel, else I wait until I have money. Anyway, if you ask this question becuase you are interested in where you should go then check out Momondo.com... they show pretty good deals and you can search for various destinations so if you are not sure then you got it all in one. They also have trains on the same routes included these days... Well I guess that was it.
