Top computer engineering schools in Cali?

Im thinking of studying computer engineering ( thinking hardware) after I graduate from high school. Can anyone suggest what colleges they think are the best to enroll in for this? I'm thinking along the lines of the CSU/ UC system, no private schools.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Probably the best program for Computer Engineering in the UC system is the EECS program at UC Berkeley. It is very tough to get into, and likewise very tough and competitive to finish. Also ranked highly is UC San Diego's CE program.

As for CSU, your best bet is Cal Poly SLO.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is a very good school, and so is San Jose State University, although the latter is more targeted towards chip layout and fabrication in the hardware arena (in the software arena both are very good).

Unfortunately I do not have experience with the UC system.

Personal experience at San Jose State University, and secondhand knowledge of friends' experience at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
