Tonight "The Underwear Bomber - Detroit Plane Plot" comes on the Discovery Channel...
The trailer for the documentary called Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab a "would be terrorist." Was Abdulmutallab successful or unsuccessful? Why?

The recent attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to bomb a U.S. bound plane, I think is a success in the sense that despite the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, he was able to penetrate the thick layer of security put in place after the September 11 terror attacks. He may have failed to detonate the bomb but the implications has been worldwide, in terms of airport security.
Just recently, it was reported that France have already put in place body scanners at their airports, and that I think is like terrorizing the privacy of air travelers.

Sadly, I think I'd have to agree with you. I think this guy's "failed attempt" was a huge success.
Do you think body scanners are worth the invasion of privacy in order to keep everyone safe? Would a body scanner have been able to have found the explosives in this guys drawers?
