To beard, or not to beard..... that is the question?
I know that there are some people that it really does work for, but as a general rule are beards a good look in 2009?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Beards can be very sexy, expressive, and a lot of fun. Not to mention they're masculine as hell. But there are a few warnings and requirements regarding beards:
A.) You must be able to really fully grow one. If it's patchy and never fills in right, then give up or go for a different cut of beard. Don't try to look like a kid playing "daddy".
B.) Be prepared it will make you look older. For a lot of men, that's just fine! You'll also look wiser and more distinguished.
C.) Keep it trimmed and neat. If you want a bushy look, then go for it! But if your look is neat and tidy, then keep it trimmed daily. Beards are kind of like women and long hair--it takes maintenance!
With those rules in mind, I still say you should give it a go! Of course, I generally prefer the rugged Viking look on a man anyway, so I'm a little biased. The good news is that you can always shave it off. This decision is a LOT less permanent than a tattoo.
See? beards are a good thing!

After a solid 5 years of having the beard I had to give it up after I got hired at the local Fire Department, beards are unpractical for fire fighters because they can break the seal on our breathing gear. So, I have become re-acquainted with my Mach 3.
I say if you have the opportunity to grow one, give it a shot, if you like it keep it. Good Luck!

M$It'll be better if you'll your picture so we could help you think about it. :)
But in the end of the day, what other people don't matter at all actually. As long as you're happy with it, either it looks good or not, then you should stick to that. :)

A beard should always look natural, not forced. Sometimes a mustache helps the beard look more natural, other times, not so much. As aforementioned, everyone's different--a picture of yourself would help us in determining the perfect beard for you--in our own humble opinions, of course ;-)
And, if you've got some free time, why not check out some of the beards from The World Beard and Mustache Championships? Some of them are good for a laugh!
