M$At first I did it for her, until she was familiar with how it felt. After she turned 10, she started wanting to try to do it herself. She had to have makeup wipes anyhow, so she just practiced with the wipes until she felt confident in her ability. For this year's Nutcracker, she was still 10 and able to deal with both her false eyelashes and mascara by herself, only needing my help for the eyeliner.
She may find this video helpful.
I'm a ballet mom, and it's amazing the skill set we pick up!

M$If you have worries about mascara application, now would be the time to stop by a makeup counter at a department store or to find out which of your neighbors is an Avon lady (if you live in a small town). Makeup consultations are generally free (they just try to get you to buy their products) and there's nothing like hands-on help from an experienced makeup artist.

1. When you remove your mascara, always use an oil-based remover. Other ones will tug and pull on your tender dermis.
2. Curl, curl, curl. A straight lash is a boring lash. Use Shiseido or Shu Uemura's. Grab the lashes by the base, and step up toward the tip.
3. Using LashExact, wriggle the wand at the base of the lash--this creates depth without make the ends of your lashes all spidery.
4. Try a navy mascara--blue, green and brown-eyed beauties alike look great in a dark blue hue. The color will make the whites of your eyes whiter!

Well, there are many videos that can help you teach your daughter on how to apply mascara on.
See this howcast tips first:

You Will Need
A mirror
Mascara
A paper towel
And an eyelash comb
An eyelash curler
Some eyeliner
And a handheld mirror
Step 1: Curl lashes & apply eyeliner
If you plan to do so, curl your lashes and apply eyeliner before applying any mascara.
Step 2: Remove the wand
Remove the wand from the tube of mascara and wipe any excess mascara onto the paper towel.
Don’t pump the wand in and out of the tube—this puts air into the tube and dries out the mascara.
Step 3: Hold wand
Hold the wand horizontally, parallel with your eyelid, on the underside of your upper lashes.
Step 4: Apply mascara
Starting at the roots, slowly draw the brush upwards in a zigging, zagging motion. Use just the tip of the wand to define the outer lashes of your eye.
Looking straight into a mirror only shows you the tips of your lashes. Hold a hand mirror below your eyes and look down into it to see if your roots are covered.
Step 5: Wait for coat to dry
Wait at least a minute for the coat to dry. Then add another if needed.
If you have light lashes or want a more dramatic look, add a coat of mascara to your bottom lashes.
Step 6: Get rid of clumps
Before your lashes dry, run an eyelash comb through them to get rid of any clumps. Now bat those beauties at whomever you please.
“Modern” mascara was invented in the 1800s and consisted mainly of crushed coal and petroleum jelly.
