Tips for staying awake?

I've been awake for the past 24 hrs or so, and as you can imagine, I'm pretty freakin tired. What are some ways to get awake and stay awake without ingesting any energy supplements?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Suggestions:

Have a quick NAP. Naps can really help you stay awake as you have a little rest. I would advise you stay awake throughout your "nap" - just resting your eyes and body for a while.

You should keep moving. Keep busy. This will occupy your brain and will take your focus off your mind - it is similar when you are hungry. When you are working hard, you often don't think about food until you are REALLY hungry. Of course, doing extra exercise could have an effect on your health - so unless this is a one-off - be careful!

Water. Keep your body hydrated. This will help clear the mind and help you focus and stay awake.

Hit yourself (CAUTION) - pinch yourself or punch gently on the knee or below. lf you do this (carefully) - this will help you stay awake. It will make your mind alert very quickly but be careful not to hurt yourself.

Hope this helps!

(I would recommend you drink something like Coffee - but as you said no energy supplements, I didn't include this in the list - caffeine helps you to stay awake!)

No way. Without coffee (not Dunkin Donats coffee) you cannot wake up.
I've tried some coffee from some country and only that coffee help me to wake up. Our body is chemical body. Only chemical can help us if cannot medicate somehow.

If I'm trying to stay awake while driving some loud upbeat music always works. But if you've been up for 24 hours I would not be driving. Why do you want to stay awake so long?

If you don't want to drink coffee, soda, tea, or some other drink with caffeine, I would suggest shocking your body somehow. If it's cold outside, try going out without a jacket. That generally wakes me up a bit.

Another thing you might try is splashing cold water on your face. If that doesn't work, try COLD water. Like put ice water in a bowl and dunk your face in.

Having air blow on your face (with a fan, or an open window or something) should help a little.

Honestly though, these are all temporary fixes. To really wake up, you're going to have to get some sleep. Good luck!
