What is the monetary value of Tiger Woods' "transgressions". How much will he lose due to dropped sponsorships and a soured image?

It seems that Tiger Woods is losing yet another sponsor, with Gatorade officially distancing itself from the disgraced golfer. Add that to sponsor drops from companies like Accenture and GM/Buick, and you start to wonder, "How much money is Tiger Woods losing as a result of his affairs?" Give us your best guess (or quote a reliable source/study) and let us know how much you think Tiger Woods is waving "bye bye" thanks to his naughty nature.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to physorg.com, the monetary value of Tiger Woods' "transgressions", as reported on December 29, 2009, it reported that "Shareholders of Nike, Gatorade and other Tiger Woods sponsors lost a collective $5 to $12 billion in the wake of the scandal involving his extramarital affairs, according to a new study by researchers at the University of California, Davis."

But the above statement has been refuted by Ryan Ballengee of waggleroom.com the following day, by saying that "As you can see from the totals, had you bought up the seven non-bankrupt current and now former sponsors of Woods, you would be up nearly $1.5 billion. If Woods has the impact on the stock market that professors Knittel and Stango would lead you to believe (he doesn't), then the Tiger Woods accident would have made you a lot of money on paper."

The conflicting statements only goes to shows the meaning of the term "YOU LOSE SOME AND WIN SOME."

Who knows. Does it matter. Unfortunately for cosmic justice, but fortunately for him, whatever it all adds up to, in the long run will probably be a drop in the proverbial bucket. His sponsorships are some fat icing on a fat fat cake. Even if he lost all his sponsorships (unlikely) and doesn't ever get any of them back (equally unlikely) he can still go out and be the top money maker for at least a few more years (10-15?) on the PGA tour. and that equals millionaire in perpetuity. What are they going to do, not let him play?
I'm not worried about Tiger's financial outlook in the least.

How much will he lose ?

Personally ?

The value of lost sponsorships thus far was reported to be $12M / year on the news this morning.

Assuming these 'relationships' would have continued while he was at the top of the game - say 10 years ? and accounting for a little inflation, you have to think that the number is around $200M currently assuming nobody else pulls out of the sponsorship deals.

I tried doing a search on the subject and this is what I found.
His personal loss is not comparable to what shareholders lost.

BV Money says investors such as - Video gamemaker Electronic Arts, Gatorade and Nike experienced a 4.3% drop in stock revenue.

Daily News says the sex scandal cost shareholders of sponsors like Nike, AT&T and Gatorade a whopping 12 Billion.
