Thoughts on the death of Mike "Mad Dog" Bell? Have you seen the film Bigger Stronger Faster?

Tragic news today that Mike "Mad Dog" Bell, the professional wrestler who appeared in the amazing documentary Bigger Stronger Faster, has died. It's not clear how he died, but anyone who has seen the will immediately think drugs were somehow involved.

Have you seen the film Bigger Stronger Faster?
What are your thoughts on the film in relation to today's news?

Sadly, the film seemed to foreshadow something tragic like this. My condolences to the family.

I saw the film... and it I thought it was one of the more honest (though, at the same time, sympathetic) views of steroid use-and-abuse. I'm not at all familiar with the bodybuilding/wrestling scene, so I found that many of my preconceptions were quite false. I'm not surprised by his death as it is foreshadowed in the film numerous times. The saddest part is the complete lack of self-worth he seemingly had...

I think that just as much as we deal with the modern perception of what the "perfect woman" looks like, men have the same (if not higher) standard lifted up. Women are the outspoken group at the moment as activist complain about the unattainable images in magazines. Well... what about men?

Men's Health and other magazines often portray men with figures that are only attainable by unrealistic gym time, diets that are custom taylored based on genetic tendencies of the individual, and are generally just not attainable by your average man.

His death really makes me reflect on how, society as a whole, operates and sees image as so much more important than the content of one's mind, or ability for non-physical acts.

It's amazing.

sorry, missed that one. the bell tolls for us all.

The title reminds me of a documentary I saw in winter park about 10 years ago Fast, Cheap and out of Control http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119107/

no bodybuilders, but it had robots, topiary, lion tamers and naked mole rats.

It's very eye opening, it just isn'tt worth it when it comes to steroids. But at the time, there wasn't a stigma in Entertainment or Sports. Very Sad no matter what

Wow. I remember him from when i was in strength training in my high school. It just goes to show that some of the choices we make early in life catch up with us.
