There are some great Native American musicians and groups out there, who are some of your favorites?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

_Rita Coolidge_ Multiple Grammy winner, mixedblood Cherokee/Scottish American.
She is a popular singer, and perhaps her largest audience was for the themesong to the James Bond flick _Octopussy_.

Now the question you have to ask yourself is, do you accept their success as main-stream popular culture musicians as a criteria for awarding points to this answer? Are you looking for American Indian musicians who perform primarily modern but indigenous work, or are you looking for overall earnings and name recognition?

Great pick with Rita Coolidge, i've always enjoyed her music but it was when Rita and her sister Priscilla and neice Laura formed Walela that i really begin to appreciate her spirit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5QkfkTJIqcI had the good fortune of meeting them back in 2000 up on the Oneida rez in Greenbay where they were preforming. Just so happened that we had some mutual friends in the music scene at the time and spent a weekend making music and socializing.
I've got some very cool recordings that were made at a friends studio that are very special to me.
