There are many ways to cook hot dogs-fried, boiled, baked, grilled. What is your favorite way to prepare hot dogs? I like them grilled.

You must grill them on a weber with real mesquite wood. In addition to this you put hickory chips on the coals. Put the coals in the center and make sure they are not too hot. Next you will want to place the hot dogs to the sides of the grill. This is to make sure they do not get burned.
Put the lid on the grill and let them cook and smoke for 15 to 20 minutes.
These are the BEST hot dogs you will ever have. Guaranteed!!!

I like mine either grilled on the Barbeque or cooked over a bonfire.

I like them burnt on a grill. If I have to boil then I like knockwurst and I put sabrett onions on them.

I agree completely. I love the smoked charcoal flavor of anything grilled. Especially hotdogs. For a little kick, I've been known to even lather them with sticky barbque sauce. Mmmmm

I can't say that I have a favorite way of cooking them. I actually don't eat them that much. One way I really like them is actually in a soup. A traditional soup of my family's is lentils and hotdogs. I know that probably sounds gross to some people. My husband had never heard of it before he met me. However, the combo is great. My husband actually looks forward to when I make the soup. So I suppose the way I like hot dogs is just boiled because that's how it would be in the soup. I suspect that soup was a family meal because we didn't have much money and both of those ingredients are cheap. Not to mention the soup is easy to make. I just boil the lentils in water with a bullion cube. Once the lentils are soft, I throw in the hotdogs and viola...dinner. However, in order to reduce the amount of processed meat that we eat, I usually put pasta or spinach in the soup these days rather than the hotdogs. But I always want to use the hotdogs instead.

Hot dogs on the grill are great family favorites at our house. On certain special occasions we take it one step further. We gently slice one side of the hot dog, place a piece of cheese in the cut slice, wrap with a strip of bacon and grill. Delicious!

We happen to have one vegetarian in the family. Not a problem. We buy SmartDogs (available at most grocery stores) and grill them wrapped in foil, Now everyone's happy!

LOL! My favorite way to cook hot dogs is to stick them on a fork and roast them over the stove! My mom does this, which if you knew my mom you would understand is very funny. She was raised on a farm. She left the farm when she was 17 and moved to San Francisco where the glamor was. She always puts on airs to be sophisticated, but every once in awhile her roots show. Roasting hot dogs over the stove is one of those times. I really get a kick out of doing it and remembering seeing her do it.

Cherise, gee I thought we only did that in our household when we were growing up. lol Now a days, I wonder of the grease that drips off of them would drip on the stove. I don't remember any problem like that. :-)

I actually prefer bratwurst to hot dog. I can't swallow a hot dog now because eating them reminds me of brats lol.

I boil mine half submerged in water, beer and onion in a cast iron pan. Yes, the pan is important. It's better over a camp fire but delicious over a stove too.

(http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-cook-bratwurst) I wrote that :)

Hot dogs grilled in a weber with hickory smoke chips are the only way to go. Once you try them this way you will know it is true.
Try to let the coals cool down a bit, move them to the center, and then sprinkle the smoke chips on the coals. Move the hot dogs to the side of the grill and put the lid on. Let them grill for about 15 to 20 min. You will never want to eat another dog any other way!!!
