The success of some viruses lies in their ability to evolve rapidly within the host. Such a virus evades the host's defenses (check details)

by mutating and producing many altered progeny viruses before the body can mount an attack. Thus, the viruses present late in infection differ from those that initially infected the body. Discuss this as an example of evolution in microcosm. Which viral lineages tend to predominate?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

He is offering to pay you to help him with his homework. Some people don't know where to look, that's why they ask. Maybe by answering his question and providing sources or explaining how you came up with the solution, he will better understand future problems and know where to look.

Does it really make a difference if he learns it from copying it from a book, or learns it from copying it off an answer on this site?

Trust me I know the information, this specific question with the proper answer is not in my AP Biology book. If you can, please answer the question. I'm not requiring that you answer, there is a $5 tip for an answer though.

If you don't want to encourage the behavior of asking for an answer to a homework question (which a lot of people do without even bothering to offer a tip) then you can answer in the same way a tutor would. A tutor might give the answer, but would also go to the effort of explaining WHY it is the answer. And if I were the one asking the question, that's the kind of effort I would expect to be put forth for the tip.

But I think that assuming that Mahalo Answers is not a service to find help on homework indicates a very narrow view of the scope of this site's intent.

And if I may offer a word of advice to the OP: Never assume that people on a site like this won't immediately recognize the language and format of a textbook homework question. It may be possible to diffuse hostile reactions to them by mentioning in the question that you are looking for help on homework.

Really?
"Discuss this as an example of evolution in microcosm." doesn't sound like someone who doesn't know where to look for the answer, sound like a teacher's question.

If you want the tip, I can send you a message with the answer but I'm not encouraging this kind of behaviour.
