The right proportions for liniment made from: arnica, wintergreen oil, witch hazel, and rubbing alcohol?

I used to have 3x5 card with recipe for this. It is great for bruises, sprained muscles, and stubbed toes. Use as a compress on sore area. It is a folk remedy that works well.
Tip for best answer: M$5.00

The liniment you mention seems to be what is commonly known as "Jow", Dit Da Jow (Cantonese) or Tieh Ta Chiao (Mandarin) which means "Hit and Fall Wine" (or liniment).

There are a variety of recipes you can use, but in one the following ingredients are said to be mixed in equal ammounts (according to weight):

• Arnica blossoms (anti-inflamatory, pain relief)
• Comfrey (anti-inflamatory, pain relief)
• Blessed Thistle (blood purifier)
• Goldenseal root (antibiotic, wound healing)
• Ginger root (circulation, wound healing, pain relief)
• Myrrh (antiseptic, circulation, wound healing)
• Sasparilla root (blood purifier)
• Witch Hazel (anti-inflamatory, pain relief)

The recipe you're looking for seems to be a family recipe, which is a variation of the Jow I posted above. Possibly only the person who told you the exact amounts could help you with getting the correct recipe.

Thanks, that's a good start, but I vaguely recall that there were different proportions.

Cannot answer your question, but since you mentioned Arnica first, I am figuring that is a prime ingredient. I came across this serious medical advise trying to research your question....

Arnica should never be applied to broken skin ... very dangerous to the heart.

The above link is a good one for herbal remedies... lots of data and some citations for the data. Other than that though, I have no knowledge of its accuracy .... but make sure you read about Arnica. It is nothing to be experimented with!

There is an herbalist that I contact when I have questions, she is very friendly and always willing to answer questions, I always make sure that I contact a person who has been using the herbs for many years as their experience is invaluble and sometimes they will tell me more information than I was looking for here is the email address to a very well respected herbalist in North Carolina, she is very approachable, I have taken a class with her. If you email your question to her I am sure she will be happy to reply. she also has a website.

her name is Suki Roth email: bruki@peoplepc.com.
